Masters rowing at LMRC is for people 27 years and older. It provides
club members with the opportunity to row competitively, or on a
casual exercise basis. Masters can row competitively in men's,
women's, or mixed boats in both sculling and sweep rowing.
Participation in masters rowing is a great way for rowers of any age
to get exercise, but camaraderie is an important aspect of the club.
There is a friendly atmosphere in which all members are welcome to
become involved in the club's many activities.
The Lake Merritt Rowing Club has three organized sweep rowing
crews (composed of open & masters rowers):
Members of the masters programs regularly participate in major regattas such as the San Diego Crew Classic, Head of the Charles, Southwest Regional Championships, and Masters National Championships. They also regularly compete in many events around the Bay Area, as well as in Sacramento, Petaluma, Lake Tahoe, and in LMRC's own regattas, the Lake Merritt Sprints and the Head of the Oakland Estuary. |
