Greetings fellow rowers!
The Lake Merritt Rowing Club is proud to announce that we have teamed up
with the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Awareness fund
to help raise awareness and funds for their ongoing fight against Breast Cancer.
The Head of the Estuary race will run as it always has; a 5k meter race starting
at the High Street Bridge and finishing at the new Jack London Aquatic Center.
How the Row for the Cure© works:
Participants in the Head of the Estuary race will have the option of
making their boat or team a sponsor
by donating to the Komen foundation. Sponsor boats
and teams will have a brightly colored banner attached to their number bib
identifying them as contributors to the fight against Breast Cancer. Contributions
will be entirely voluntary. You will also probably want to get in on some of the
state of the art rowing equipment that will be raffled at the awards ceremony,
again with the proceeds going to the Komen Foundation. Additionally, there will be
many prizes for the people who solicit pledges, with the grand prize of a set of
Dreher sculls going to the individual with the highest pledge total.
